All sales to be held at North Street Saleroom from January 2017
As part of our ongoing strategy to improve customer service and operational efficiency, we will be holding all auctions at our North Street salerooms from January 2017. These will include our popular weekly sales and also the regular Fine Sales of antiques, fine art & collectables.
The decision to amalgamate the Garden Street and North Street saleroom follows the retirement of Gorringe's Partner Julian Dawson who has managed the Garden Street saleroom since 1959, overseeing the sale of some 30,000 lots per year.
Gorringe’s spacious headquarters and saleroom in North Street provides an ideal location to hold all Gorringe’s auctions. The airy and well lit galleries allow items for sale to be displayed to their best advantage, while the saleroom is fully-equipped with the latest technology, including live internet bidding and large flat screen display of lots.
The regular weekly sales will continue to take place on a Monday, and there will now be extended viewing until 1pm on the preceding Saturday. An old Gorringe's hand, David Holmes, will be returning every Monday to conduct the weekly auctions.
“Gorringe’s has had a presence in Lewes since the 1920s and has built up a well-deserved reputation as the leading auctioneers in the South East”, said Senior Partner Philip Taylor. “By bringing together all our sales under one roof, we will be able to offer our customers a more streamlined buying and selling service plus on hand valuation advice and convenient parking. We look forward to welcoming everyone here in 2017.”
Our final sale at Garden Street will take place on 19th December and the first weekly sale of 2017 will be held on 9th January.
